OUR BUSINESS CARD

iperPIANO iperPIANO is both a Technical, Cultural and Professional Vehicle as well as Opinion Group. We are at the forefront of innovative solutions in spatial and urban governance and management, particularly plan-making, policy development and project management.

iperPIANO is an interdisciplinary skills network able to mediate amongst numerous stakeholder viewpoints, multidisciplinary in terms of the breadth and depth of its members’ competences, and trans-disciplinary as regards its ability to overcome the traditional barriers that exist within the field.

iperPIANO represents a modern and innovative way of thinking about ‘Plan’ and ‘Project’ and their complex interactions. The prefix ‘iper’ (‘hyper’ and thus ‘hyperPLAN’) – overcoming established limits – is an expression of the ability to find solutions that break through the limitations inherent in traditional Plan-making and Project Management.

iperPIANO in this regard takes its inspiration from Italian writer Italo Calvino who coined the term ‘hyper novel’ in ‘Lezioni americane’ (‘American Lessons’): how to cope more effectively with the requirements of modernity, which is governed by light-touch, speed, precision, image and multiplicity.

iperPIANO focuses on 7 key elements:

iperPIANO 1. the inescapable truth of delivering Sustainable Development, the most important building-block in ensuring environmental integrity, ranging from the challenges of climate change to experimenting with new development models that integrate environmental, social and economic objectives;

2. the role of administrative governance and its ability to meet the multiple challenges posed by globalisation, but above all by the prospect of adding value through maximising the links between financial capital and labour pools;

3. the complete social, economic and environmental integration of the urban and the rural, in order to balance better the needs of sustainability – in both the countryside and built-up areas;

4. the critical importance at every functional level of ensuring that all needs are engaged and incorporated within operational structures that do not overburden either the plan or the project;

5. the adoption of creativity as the driver for development and competitiveness by applying the knowledge, skills and good-will available in each specific geography and project;

6. the importance of engaging local communities, at both formal but also informal levels, through open and transparent processes – especially when the community itself is at the centre of the change that is to take place;

7. the commitment to improved and effective decision-making at the local level, in accordance with the principle of subsidiarity.

iperPIANO has a business proposition that is based on:

iperPIANO - being an integrated community of technical expertise and innovation;
- being a formal and informal network of professional partners;
- adopting methods that are inter-disciplinary, multi-disciplinary and trans-disciplinary;
- having a hands-on approach that, with know-how and flexibility, can be variously applied according to requirements and circumstances;
- being able to identify with the rationale of those it deals with, where this is reasonable and sustainable… and inspiring with and being inspired by the results and outcomes produced.

iperPIANO has distinctiveness for the following reasons:

- possessing specific and specialist know-how, notably where this pushes existing boundaries (for instance as regards new approaches, research, innovation, operational effectiveness, etc);
- a refreshing attitude in professional approach, whilst nevertheless maintaining the highest values of civic engagement;
- intellectual and professional independence, i.e. an individual identity vis-à-vis the more typical behaviour that characterises traditional organisational models within civic society.

iperPIANO has dual business outputs within its offer:

iperPIANO SOLUTIONS - work that has already been successfully implemented and can therefore be easily reproduced in accordance with the specific requirements of new commissions that arise;

INNOVATIONS – elements of existing commissions that can be further developed to meet specific new requirements, perhaps as prototypes.

iperPIANO as a result of collective experience and competence, is closely engaged with the following professional areas:

- Spatial Planning and Urban Regeneration

- Sustainable Design

- Environmental and Countryside Strategies

- Organisational and Management Support

What makes iperPIANO most distinctive is that it views every professional activity as being part of a hyperPLAN - an INTEGRATED AND SUSTAINABLE PLAN OR PROJECT – an evolving pathway that develops from idea conception through to delivery and management:
